  Dartmoor Walking Festival 2016 The Festival will run from Saturday 27thAugust until Sunday 4th September 2016 inclusive and will cover all areas of Dartmoor and is open to everybody of all ages and abilities. It will be very clearly marketed as ‘Dartmoor on your Doorstep’ with this chosen time of year being the last week of the summer holidays encompassing the August Bank holiday weekend to start it off and ending in the first week of September. This will hopefully allow our visitors to stay on the extra week in order to enjoy all that Dartmoor has to offer and also to encourage our locals to come out on the moors before the children go back...

Fish Quay opens in Teignmouth   A £1.1 million Fish Quay has opened in Teignmouth, South devon, that was built to help boost fishing, leisure and tourism industries in Teignmouth and surrounding areas. Close to our devon holiday cottages, the quay will be the great place for recreational fishing. The regeneration scheme aims to boost the livelihoods of the local South devon fishermen, help retain the fishing heritage of the area and encourage visitors with new facilities and boats. If you have visited Shaldon before you will be aware that it’s situated at the mouth of the River Teign. Across the River is Teignmouth which has a thriving port with coasters coming and going according to the tides.  Its main export is ball clay, which is mined locally at Kingsteignton. Imports include animal feed, fertilizer, timber, building materials, stone and coal. There are over 800 shipping movements a year handling more than 600 thousand tonnes of cargo.
