Fish Quay opens in teignmouth   A £1.1 million Fish Quay has opened in teignmouth, South Devon, that was built to help boost fishing, leisure and tourism industries in teignmouth and surrounding areas. Close to our Devon holiday cottages, the quay will be the great place for recreational fishing. The regeneration scheme aims to boost the livelihoods of the local South Devon fishermen, help retain the fishing heritage of the area and encourage visitors with new facilities and boats. What a difference a day makes. This weeks storm washed this blue motor boat up high and dry on The Ness rocks. This is what was left of the boat 24 hours later. On my way home a small crabbing trawler was heading out to a very rough sea. Brave people....

If you have visited Shaldon before you will be aware that it’s situated at the mouth of the River Teign. Across the River is teignmouth which has a thriving port with coasters coming and going according to the tides.  Its main export is ball clay, which is mined locally at Kingsteignton. Walkies with Hedley on a chilly November morning. The canal was frozen but the walk was lovely and a very festive Robin posed for the camera. A day of stand up paddle board rental with teignmouth’s SeaSport Centre   If you are one for giving things a go, and love the outdoor lifestyle then renting a stand up paddleboard front SeaSports has got to be on your list of things to do whilst down here in Devon.
