If you have visited Shaldon before you will be aware that it’s situated at the mouth of the River Teign. Across the River is Teignmouth which has a thriving port with coasters coming and going according to the tides.  Its main export is ball clay, which is mined locally at Kingsteignton. Imports include animal feed, fertilizer, timber, building materials, stone and coal. There are over 800 shipping movements a year handling more than 600 thousand tonnes of cargo. Bandits Ahoy!

  Two groups of migrants were spotted arriving on Shaldon beach last night. None had passports, but when questioned said they were seeking asylum from Trump. Temporary accommodation was set up in the Ferry Boat Inn garden. Villagers and visitors to the holiday homes in Shaldon were advised to be extra vigilant and lock up their horses....

What a difference a day makes. This weeks storm washed this blue motor boat up high and dry on The Ness rocks. This is what was left of the boat 24 hours later. On my way home a small crabbing trawler was heading out to a very rough sea. Brave people....

Walkies with Hedley on a chilly November morning. The canal was frozen but the walk was lovely and a very festive Robin posed for the camera. The Ted Hughes Poetry Trail has been created at Stover Country Park to celebrate his poetry and long-standing links with devon. Visitors to the Trail can read examples of Hughes’ finest poems relating to the natural world. These poems have been chosen with the help of Carol Hughes to relate to the wildlife to be seen and heard around the Country Park.
