HOW TO BOOK

Once you’ve chosen your holiday cottage/apartment, provisional bookings may be made in the first instance by telephone (01626) 872314 and will be held for 5 working days pending receipt of the booking form and deposit. The balance is payable 30 days before the commencement of the holiday. Upon receipt of this, full details regarding collection of the key, linen and directions to the property will be sent to you.


SHORT BREAKS
Short breaks are normally from October to March with a minimum of 3 nights stay. Short breaks may also be booked at other times, subject to late availability, and are payable in full at the time of booking.


GENERAL INFORMATION
Security deposit
A  security deposit of £100 is charged on all properties. A separate cheque for this amount should be sent with your balance payment. The cheque will be shredded at the end of your holiday unless any deductions for damage or extra cleaning are necessary. Keys can be collected only from our Shaldon office from 3pm on the day of arrival.Please read Terms and Conditions on the booking form.


Under no circumstances will the keys be passed out until all monies are paid, including security deposit.


• Arrival
All properties will be available for occupation from 3pm on the day of arrival.


• Departure
Properties must be vacated and keys and used linen returned by 10am on the day of departure.


• TV
All properties have colour televisions.


• Cleaning
The property must be left in a clean and tidy condition and we would make a special request that you leave the property as you find it including replacing furniture which may have been moved. A deduction will be taken from the security deposit should this not be the case.

• Complaints
Any problems that may arise during the course of your holiday must be taken up immediately with the caretaker of your property. If you cannot resolve the problem you must also immediately telephone Cottages South West. However, we cannot entertain any complaints which are reported after the completion of the holiday.

• Linen
All properties include standard bedding ie: pillows and blankets or duvets. Duvet covers, bottom sheets and pillow cases are supplied and should be collected from our Shaldon office, unless properties make up beds for arrival as indicated. Towels are not supplied but can be hired. Bed linen is only supplied for persons named on the booking form and not for Z beds, settees etc. One set of linen only per booking. Extra linen to be charged. If linen is not returned, a £10 collection charge will be issued. Linen and key delivery and collection to property if requested - £20.

• Pets
If a dog is welcome, it is on the understanding that it is kept strictly under control and not allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture or left alone in the accommodation at any time. Where dogs are allowed, there is an extra charge of £25 per week. Dogs should be exercised off the premises.
Any extra cleaning occasioned by dogs will be charged extra.

• Change Over Day
This day will be a Friday/Saturday.

• Cots
Unless specified, cots are not supplied. If you would prefer to hire a cot, high chair, this can be arranged.

• Central Heating
Where this is required, an extra charge will be made.


Parking
Please note that Shaldon is an old fashioned fishing village with many narrow lanes – parking can be difficult during the summer months in the village. Where street parking is indicated it may not always be possible to park adjacent to your cottage. There is a large public car park a short walk away.


CANCELLATION 
Any intention to cancel the booking should be notified as soon as possible (by recorded delivery post). In the event of a cancellation, endeavours will be made to re - let the accommodation on the tenants’ behalf, but if no re - letting is effected, the tenants will be liable for the full rent due whether or not they occupy the accommodation. We recommend taking out insurance to cover.


• Sum Covered
Up to the full holiday cost less £25 excess and £20 booking fee.


• Persons Covered
Only persons named on the booking form. For more comprehensive cover, we recommend you arrange separate insurance.


• Cover Provided
The company will reimburse the irrecoverable accommodation charges in the event of only persons named on the booking form causing the holiday to be cancelled prior to commencement due to any of the following circumstances occurring after the payment of the holiday deposit: Please note that cover is not provided for curtailment of holiday.
a) Death, injury, illness, compulsory quarantine of the
covered person certified by a registered practitioner.
Evidence is also required on the fitness of the person
at the time of booking.
b) Any covered person being summoned for jury or
witness service during the period of the booking.
c) Redundancy which qualifies for payment under the
current Redundancy Act/s.
d) Fire, storm, flood, subsidence or malicious damage
rendering persons home uninhabitable.
e) Police requiring the presence of a covered person
following burglary at home or place of business.
f) Any person having H.M. Forces leave cancelled. This
cover excludes any claim arising from any consequence
of war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities
(whether war declared or not), civil war, rebellion,
revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power.
